What is Archery?

Archery is the art, sport, practice, or skill of using a bow to shoot arrows. The word comes from the Latin arcus.

There are a few different types of bows one can choose from.

Recurve Bows

RECURVE BOWS

Recurve bows come in many varieties from simple traditional bows to Olympic recurves. The “Olympic recurve” is the type of bow Olympians shoot. It’s also the bow of choice for thousands of recreational archers who like a fantastic, challenging discipline.

Traditional Recurve Bow

Traditional recurve bows are one piece bow. In this type of bow, you cannot detach the limbs from its center part - riser.

Usually, it made of wood. Turkish bow, Mongolian bow are some examples of traditional recurve bow.

Modern Recurve Bow

Modern recurve bows are usually takedown type means the limbs can be parted when not in use or need to change. In modern recurve bow, the riser made with metal or wood and limbs made with laminated fiberglass.

One can use extra instruments like sight, stabilizer, quiver, and so on.

Compound Bows

COMPOUND BOWS

If you love precision marksmanship, consider a compound bow. They’re capable of incredible accuracy. With lessons, you’ll hit the center regularly.

In general, compound bows are widely used in target practice and hunting

The compound bow is a kind of modern bow invented around in the mid-1960s. Compound bow designed such a way that it can aid an archer to pull its full draw length with minimal effort compared to traditional recurve bows.

It has been possible because of its sophisticated design – there is a rounded wheel called ‘cam’ or ‘pulley’ located at the top of each limbs holding the drawstring.
